We talk about all of the revolution brought by carbon nanotubes. Here is another practical application: Chinese scientists have developed a new material a few nanometers thick that can make sounds.

This technology promises a great revolution in the speakers because they could be integrated into any object or material: fabrics, wall paper, t-shirts, ...

To demonstrate the feasibility of such speakers, researchers have developed a small "flag speaker" connected to an iPod. Here's the video :

Well, Me, I would not have chosen this piece of music but it works. While the sound is not super good, but considering the quality of the video and size of the flag, this is pretty decent.
