A few days before the official release of OpenOffice 3.0 (Monday 13) here you can already download it from the official repositories.
Indeed, certainly in anticipation of traffic to the servers, the updated version of the deposits with stability of OpenOffice has already started. So you can download this new version.
Personally, I think face to MS Office 2007, OpenOffice.org to missed the boat, but as with any initiative of the free, I want to support him.
So all your downloads and please let me know your thoughts on this new version.
PS: Remember, etanonline.fr coming soon, so put already update your links!

Thank you for the link. When selecting a French mirror in the en-compressed packet OOo3.deb there is a script full of files and update with deb. Only would there be that it (the script to launch upadte) without removing OOo 2.4?
Here is the procedure in Ubuntu:
- Uninstall the old OOo: sudo apt-get remove openoffice *
- Download the Linux (deb) package,
- In a terminal, go to the directory where the file is saved. eg: cd ~ / Desktop /
- Extract the tar.gz: tar xzf OOo_3.0.0_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz
- We install: sudo dpkg-i OOO300_m9_native_packed-1_en-US.9358/DEBS / *. Deb
- Desktop-integration sudo dpkg-i OOO300_m9_native_packed-1_en-US.9358/DEBS/desktop-integration / *. Deb
- And voila! everything works!

Hello! Thank you for the ad ;) I will install. I admit that compared to MS Office, OpenOffice.org is behind a lot of points ...
Your support does not "t" ;)
Thank you, I'll fix it ... right now, I leave lying around with a shovel ...
To confuse speed with haste, this is what happens!
Hello and big thank you to ETAN
I am beginner with ubuntu and I'm using ubuntu 8.10.
I wonder if the installation of openoffice 3 described above works on this version.
I already tried several times unsuccessfully to other procedures, after you download and extract OOO300_m9_native_packed-1_fr.9358 I currently on my desk.
What should I do?
Thank you
I think so, but I do not use Ubuntu 8.10 now, so I can not test.
I tried and it's good
I had mixed with the brushes. Deb but now I can enjoy openoffice 3.
Thank you
Hello,
A small problem with openoffice 3.
"Save As" does not save files other than on the local directory.
How can you then save on a USB key? or elsewhere on the desktop?
It's still annoying! Version 2 allows this quite naturally.
Thank you for the pipe.

This is only a problem with Ubuntu 8.10 that I use or is it general?
I do not have this problem ... besides, I do not see why the developer would have imposed such a limitation!
Just browse the folder to save the file anywhere you want.
You are using Ubuntu 8.10?
Until something better, I'm with "cut and paste" a bit long but it helps out!
See ya!
Sorry, I can not say more, I have no problem.
I currently use Linux Mint based on Ubuntu 8.04.
But looking on the forums, google, you should find ... if not, try a reinstall of OO.org 3.
